Introduction
The new year is here and you have all these great goals you want to accomplish, but you want to wait for the right moment! Don’t wait another second, get started today on your goals.
Get Moving
Getting started with a fitness routine is the first step.
If you’re not sure where to begin, here’s some advice: start small.
If you set up unrealistic goals and fail to achieve them, your motivation will dwindle, and nothing good will come of it.
It takes time for your body to adjust to new routines and movements. Don’t get discouraged if you aren’t seeing results immediately; stick with it for at least three weeks before deciding whether or not something works for you (and take note of what does work). If after three weeks nothing has changed—or things have gotten worse—seek help from someone who knows what they’re doing! Start with a 5 minute walk, jog or run
Start with a 5 minute walk, jog or run. You can do this for a few minutes a day, or for an hour. It’s up to you! This is a great way to get started if you want to get into better shape and find yourself feeling more energized throughout your day.
If you’re not sure where to start with walking, jogging or running, here are some tips:
- Try wearing comfortable clothes that will help keep you warm during cold winter months (ex: t-shirts and jeans) as well as shorts and sandals if it’s warm outside. If it’s too cold out for shorts/sandals yet still chilly enough where pants feel uncomfortable then try wearing sweatpants instead of jeans so they don’t restrict movement when doing different types of exercises like walking uphill on hillsides which helps burn calories faster than doing flat surfaces like sidewalks does (you’ll learn about different types later).
- Wear comfortable shoes too – preferably ones that aren’t slippery when wet because these tend to have better traction when wet weather hits unexpectedly which can happen more often than expected during rainy seasons like springtime!
No Equipment? Try Bodyweight Exercises
Bodyweight exercises are a great way to get started, especially if you don’t have any equipment in your home. They’re also great for beginners who want to learn the basics and then move on to more advanced exercises.
There are many different types of bodyweight exercises and variations of them, including:
- Pushups (chest)
- Pullups (back)
- Squats (legs)
- Planks (abs/core)
Add some resistance bands
Resistance bands are an easy and effective way to get in shape. They’re portable, versatile and affordable. You can use them almost anywhere, from your home to a hotel room while traveling. These bands are also available at most big box retailers like Walmart, Target and Amazon so they’re super easy to find. Don’t know which resistance bands to buy? Stay Consistent
- Consistency is the key to success.
- Don’t give up if you can’t do it all at once.
- Busy schedules can get in the way of your goals but don’t let that stop you from trying!
- Find an accountability partner (family member, significant other or close friend).
- Seek out a trainer / coach to guide and to program for you to further your success.
Now is the time to get these goals accomplished. Don’t wait another second, get started today!
